Welcome to Gender Indicators Online

Improving the status of women in South Australia is of central concern to the South Australian Government and the Premier's Council for Women. Gender Indicators Online (GIO) provides a range of gender indicators on the status of women in South Australia .

This resource builds on and expands the "Statistical Profile of Women in South Australia" that was released by the Premier's Council for Women in 2004. GIO is a tool to support a whole of government approach to gender sensitive policy/program development and evaluation . GIO is a collaborative initiative of the Premier's Council for Women, Office for Women, Department of Premier and Cabinet and the Australian Institute for Social Research.

Please note that GIO will be periodically updated to incorporate the latest available data.

The Gender Indicators Online project will endeavour to relate relevant indicators back to the Strategic Plan and where possible, will provide time series data to track the performance of related indicators over time. View South Australia's Strategic Plan

Site Update

The Gender Indicators Online site is currently being updated.

The update will include data from the Census 2006 as well as a range of other sources. The site will also include two new themes: State Strategic Plan indicators and Indigenous indicators.
